Odoo Community + OCA Field Service
Free self-hosted; implementation varies
Overview
Odoo Community plus OCA Field Service is the open-source FSM option with the strongest direct fit for dispatch, work orders, and inventory-connected service. The OCA project extends Odoo with modules for field-service orders, recurring service, agreements, routes, territories, skills, vehicles, and stock flows.
This is not a one-click substitute for a packaged product like Jobber or ServiceTitan. It is a framework for building a field-service operating system around Odoo. That is exactly why it is useful for teams that have technical ownership and frustrating for teams that simply want to subscribe and go live.
Pricing
The OCA modules are free to use, but the meaningful cost is implementation. Budget for hosting, backups, monitoring, version upgrades, mobile access, user training, and partner or developer time. For a small team, the license line can be zero while the project still requires a serious implementation budget.
When to pick it
Choose Odoo Community plus OCA Field Service when field service needs to sit close to CRM, inventory, accounting, purchasing, or project data. Skip it if you do not have an Odoo administrator, an implementation partner, or the patience to own upgrades and configuration.
Pros
- Directly targets field-service operations rather than only ticketing or maintenance
- Connects field work to Odoo CRM, inventory, accounting, and project data
- Large Odoo ecosystem with implementation partners and add-on modules
- AGPL OCA modules keep the field-service layer open
Cons
- Requires Odoo knowledge to deploy, configure, and upgrade safely
- Mobile/offline experience depends on module choices and implementation quality
- Community and Enterprise licensing boundaries need to be understood before rollout
