It is the flagship product of the company historically known as Data-Basics. The vendor’s current history says Data-Basics began in 1974, Jonas Software acquired it in 2023, and the company adopted the SAMPRO brand in 2026. It remains headquartered in Bedford, Ohio and serves the United States and Canada.

The product targets mid-to-large commercial contractors rather than owner-operators looking only for a calendar and invoice app. Field service, construction projects, financials, payroll, job costing, inventory, mobile access, automation, and analytics operate on one database. That architecture is SAMPRO’s main differentiator: labor, materials, purchasing, billing, and field updates feed job and financial records without relying on a chain of separate point products.

Pricing

SAMPRO does not publish module prices, user rates, implementation fees, or contract minimums. It is sold through a tailored demo and quote. The platform is modular, so buyers should ask for an itemized proposal covering the ERP foundation, TechAnywhere, portals, fleet capabilities, analytics, implementation, migration, report development, training, hosting, support, and future module additions.

This is an implementation-led ERP purchase, not a self-serve subscription. Compare total three-year cost and internal project effort, not only the license line. The vendor’s own positioning makes clear that teams map SAMPRO to the contractor’s workflows during implementation.

Key capabilities

SAMPRO’s core combines general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, billing, multi-company accounting, work orders, dispatch, preventive-maintenance contracts, project management, inventory, procurement, and document management. Project tools include real-time budget-versus-actual job costing, schedules, change orders, AIA-style construction invoicing, retainage, and mobile time capture.

TechAnywhere gives technicians access to work orders, equipment history, and documents. It captures labor, materials, photos, signatures, and payments, with store-and-forward operation when connectivity drops. Rules-Based Management monitors processes, validates data, and escalates exceptions. SAMPRO Analytics supplies browser-accessible dashboards and drill-down reporting across service, projects, inventory, finance, and labor.

The public integration evidence is narrower than the platform’s broad partner language. XOi Vision has a documented connection to TechAnywhere for field media and knowledge workflows, while Global Payments has been documented as an embedded payment partner. Buyers should require the vendor to demonstrate any other named integration in the version and package being quoted.

Strengths and limitations

SAMPRO’s strength is operational and financial depth for contractors that genuinely run two businesses at once: recurring service and longer construction projects. Native accounting, complex job costing, payroll, inventory, and field execution can reduce reconciliation between systems. Multi-company and multi-location support also makes it more plausible for regional operators and acquisition platforms than lightweight FSM products.

That breadth creates implementation risk. Data migration, chart-of-accounts design, security, payroll rules, inventory, project billing, and mobile rollout all require decisions and testing. Public pricing is unavailable, and buyers cannot determine from the website alone which capabilities are standard versus separately licensed. Smaller shops that will keep QuickBooks and do limited project work may pay for governance and depth they will not use.

When to pick SAMPRO

Pick SAMPRO when commercial service, construction, accounting, inventory, and job costing must share one source of truth, especially across several branches, companies, warehouses, or unions. Put real workflows into the demo: a service call with parts and payroll impact, a PM contract renewal, a change order, retainage billing, and month-end close.

Do not pick SAMPRO just to replace a dispatch board. A focused FSM can be faster and cheaper when accounting will remain external and project controls are light. The ERP earns its cost only if the organization is prepared to standardize finance and operations around it.
