Overview

Total Service is contractor ERP software for elevator, HVAC, fire and life safety, commercial plumbing, electrical, overhead-door, and related service businesses. The company began as Automated Integration in 1991 and adopted the Total Service name in 2022. It is now part of Jonas Software, a division of Constellation Software. The official site says more than 200 independent contractors in the United States and Canada use its software.

The current product is TS Cloud, a cloud platform intended to connect executives, sales, dispatch, field technicians, finance, accounting, and customer support. Total Service’s public materials position the typical customer as an independent contractor with roughly 20 to 200 employees—not a global enterprise, but more operationally complex than a small shop that needs only scheduling and invoices.

The company’s privacy policy identifies Jonas Software USA doing business as Total Service at an Austin, Texas address. That is the most defensible current headquarters reference; older materials may use the former Automated Integration identity.

Pricing

Total Service does not publish license prices, user tiers, implementation fees, or contract minimums. Buyers must book a guided tour and request a quote. The vendor explicitly advises buyers to model licensing, implementation, training, data migration, and ongoing support when comparing total cost.

Ask the proposal to distinguish the established Total Service modules from the newer TS Cloud capabilities, including mobile access and any AI-branded functions. Also confirm the production status, delivery date, and price of every integration shown in a demo. The vendor’s own public comparison material identifies several integration categories as roadmap items rather than broadly available connectors.

Key capabilities

Total Service combines dispatch, scheduling, field work, project management, equipment and inventory records, purchase orders, payables, billing, financial management, CRM, customer access, job costing, and reporting. Its strongest documented differentiator is integrated payroll. The platform supports multiple union agreements, apprenticeship tiers, benefit-fund contributions, certified and prevailing-wage reporting, multi-state withholding, and employee access to pay stubs, paid-time-off balances, and W-2s.

The mobile workflow connects technicians to the office so work-order updates and time entry can flow into job costing, billing, and payroll. TS Cloud’s role-based presentation also aims to give sales, dispatch, finance, and customer-service staff one operational view rather than separate departmental tools.

Strengths and limitations

Total Service has unusually deep vertical tenure. Elevator service is central to its product history, not an incidental industry page, and its native accounting and payroll address difficult contractor workflows that many FSM products hand off to QuickBooks or a separate payroll service. Jonas and Constellation ownership add long-term vertical-software backing.

The diligence risk is version clarity. The company has more than 30 years of history, but TS Cloud is the current cloud product, so buyers should not assume every legacy Total Service capability, customer reference, or implementation pattern transfers unchanged. Pricing is private, and public documentation is less detailed than the knowledge bases of larger vendors. Integration breadth should be verified feature by feature.

When to pick Total Service

Pick Total Service when an independent elevator or mechanical contractor wants service operations, project work, job costing, financials, and complex payroll in one industry-specific system. In the demo, run a union technician’s time from a mobile work order through job cost, invoice, payroll, and remittance reporting. That end-to-end test is more useful than a generic feature tour.

Do not pick it on company longevity alone. Confirm which version will be deployed, where data is hosted, what migration tools exist, which features are live in TS Cloud, and what the vendor will contractually deliver. A contractor that plans to keep external accounting and has simple payroll may get a faster implementation from a narrower elevator FSM.
