mHelpDesk is an active SMB field service platform for leads, scheduling, jobs, estimates, invoices, payments, equipment, and QuickBooks sync.
mHelpDesk is a cloud field service platform aimed at small service businesses. Its live website and current help center document an operating product that manages leads, customers, staff, jobs, appointments, estimates, invoices, payments, customer equipment, timesheets, and automation. The site still offers a free-trial path and customer login, while the support center publishes setup and workflow guidance.
The help documents cited below are served from mHelpDesk’s Intercom help center. Their metadata still declares the legacy forum.mhelpdesk.com vanity host as canonical, but that host currently presents a TLS certificate hostname mismatch and should not be treated as a usable link; the working intercom.help URLs are used here instead.
The company was founded in 2007 in Fairfax, Virginia. HomeAdvisor acquired a majority stake in 2014; HomeAdvisor later became part of the corporate group now known as Angi. The current mHelpDesk site lists an Indianapolis, Indiana address. Those ownership changes matter when evaluating the product roadmap, but the product itself should not be described as discontinued: the application, help center, login, support contacts, and trial funnel remain public.
mHelpDesk does not publish current plan rates, seat prices, minimums, or contract terms. The site directs prospective customers to request a quote or trial. Older comparisons and software directories often show historical prices, but those figures are not reliable evidence of what a buyer will be quoted now.
Ask for a written breakdown of user limits, mobile access, QuickBooks sync, payment processing, automation, onboarding, data migration, support hours, and renewal increases. Payment processor fees are separate from the software subscription and depend on the selected provider.
The platform covers the standard small-business FSM cycle. Leads can become customers and jobs; schedules coordinate staff and appointments; estimates, work orders, and invoices use configurable templates; and payments can flow through supported processors. Online booking and website request forms feed work into the system, while notifications and automation reduce manual follow-up.
mHelpDesk also tracks customer equipment and service history, which gives it more operational context than a simple scheduling app. Mobile users can receive job and appointment notifications and use time-clock functions. Official documentation lists mHelpDesk Payments, Stripe, Authorize.net, and PayPal as payment options.
QuickBooks is the most clearly documented integration. mHelpDesk supports QuickBooks Online and Desktop, but buyers should study the actual sync rules. For QuickBooks Desktop, the official FAQ describes customer, price-list, tax, term, and customer-type imports and exports of new invoices, estimates, payments, customers, products, taxes, and terms. It does not import historical invoices and estimates, and the vendor explicitly says mHelpDesk is not a QuickBooks replacement.
mHelpDesk’s advantage is practical SMB scope. A small team can manage the customer and job lifecycle without taking on construction accounting or enterprise resource planning. Its help center is a useful diligence asset because it exposes specific workflows rather than relying only on marketing claims. Support for both QuickBooks editions is also relevant to contractors that have not moved fully to cloud accounting.
The main weaknesses are commercial and strategic transparency. Pricing is private, the public product-news footprint is limited, and ownership inside a larger home-services group makes the standalone roadmap difficult to assess from public materials. Larger contractors may outgrow its reporting, project accounting, inventory, or multi-entity needs even if the core scheduling and billing workflow remains sound.
Pick mHelpDesk when a small service business wants one system for lead intake, jobs, scheduling, estimates, invoices, payments, equipment records, and QuickBooks handoff. Test with a copy of the company’s real chart of accounts and item list, not a demo dataset, and confirm which records move in each direction.
Do not pick it without a roadmap and data-export conversation. Buyers should verify recent release cadence, mobile-device support, API availability, termination export format, and the exact ownership/support entity in the contract. Teams that need native financials, construction projects, or multi-branch controls should compare a contractor ERP rather than stretching an SMB FSM beyond its documented scope.
