Tenna is a mixed-fleet operations platform for construction companies that need more than GPS tracking. Its official site positions the product around asset tracking, geofences, utilization, analytics, maintenance, safety, scheduling, and OEM/AEMP data flow. The company says it was founded in 2015 as BuildSourced, then renamed Tenna in 2017 as the product line expanded.
The broad theme across the site is control: field, shop, and office all share the same equipment view. That makes Tenna a better fit for contractors with significant equipment spend and multiple asset types than for small teams that only want a lightweight dispatch app.
Tenna does not publish list pricing. Its pricing page is explicitly framed as “Customized Pricing for Construction Fleet Management” and walks buyers through products, asset types, quantity, and contact information before a quote conversation starts. That is the clearest signal that Tenna sells on a custom, sales-led model rather than self-serve checkout.
In practical terms, that usually means the final number depends on fleet size, asset mix, hardware needs, and the modules a buyer wants turned on. If you are comparing it to simple per-user SaaS tools, Tenna will usually feel heavier and more consultative.
Tenna’s feature set is wider than a basic tracker. The site highlights asset tracking and management, sites/maps/geofences, utilization, analytics and reporting, preventive maintenance, work orders, parts, mechanic time cards, safety and compliance, and resource management and dispatching.
That breadth matters because it turns equipment data into workflow data. Instead of simply showing where an asset is, Tenna tries to connect location, usage, maintenance state, and operational responsibility in one system.
Tenna leans hard into OEM and rental integrations. On its integrations page, the company calls out Caterpillar VisionLINK, Caterpillar My.Cat, John Deere JDLink, Komatsu KOMTRAX, Volvo CareTrack, JCB LiveLink, Vermeer, Sunbelt Rentals, and an AEMP-compliant Asset API.
The same page also lists the asset data Tenna can surface through those flows: asset identifier, make, model, serial number, VIN or PIN, odometer, fuel level, DEF level, operating hours, idle hours, and location. That makes the platform especially useful for mixed fleets where the same dashboard needs to handle telematics from multiple vendors.
Tenna’s biggest strength is that it combines construction-native fleet management with deeper asset workflows than a pure tracker. The official messaging is consistent: mixed fleet visibility, better control across the field/shop/office loop, and a platform that is built for contractors rather than generic logistics teams.
The trade-off is straightforward. If you only need a simple location tool, Tenna is probably too much platform. If you need broad equipment oversight, maintenance workflows, compliance data, and OEM integration in one place, the added scope is the point.
Pick Tenna when your equipment program is large enough that spreadsheets and point tools are slowing the operation down. It is a strong fit for contractors with mixed fleets, rental-heavy workflows, and recurring maintenance or compliance needs.
Skip it if you are mostly a small service business or you only need a thin dispatch layer. Tenna is about fleet control, not light scheduling.
