SharpSpring is the former name of Constant Contact Lead Gen & CRM. Constant Contact completed its acquisition of SharpSpring in September 2021. In March 2026, the company announced that Lead Gen & CRM replaces the SharpSpring name and brand while the application continues to be developed. Existing access and functionality were not changed by the rename, although the old name remains in parts of billing, API code, the knowledge base, and third-party integrations during the transition.
This is an adjacent product for a field-service buyer, not an FSM. It manages the marketing and sales funnel: lead capture, behavioral tracking, lead scoring, email automation, CRM records, sales opportunities, pipelines, and analytics. It does not schedule technicians, dispatch work, manage service equipment, or close field work orders. A service contractor would use it alongside an operations platform when marketing automation requires more depth than the FSM’s built-in lead tools.
Constant Contact does not publish a standard Lead Gen & CRM price table. The current pricing page asks buyers to schedule a demo with a certified partner. Official billing documentation says direct-client tiers are customized per account and based on the highest lead count stored during the billing period, with included email volumes. Additional charges can apply for optional services, Salesforce integration, extra mailbox-sync accounts, and excessive monthly page impressions, typically above 250,000.
That structure makes a contact-list snapshot insufficient for cost comparison. Buyers should model lead growth, monthly email volume, tracked page traffic, users, mailboxes, Salesforce requirements, onboarding, and data migration over the full contract term.
Lead Gen & CRM combines lead generation and scoring, marketing automation, CRM, pipeline management, sales automation, and analytics. Native and third-party forms can map website submissions into custom fields. The CRM supports accounts, opportunities, custom deal stages, visual pipelines, and reports. Its open API exposes lead and event data for custom connections.
The Salesforce integration is documented in detail. Contacts, leads, custom fields, and campaigns can synchronize in both directions; lead scores and selected marketing events can push to Salesforce; accounts and opportunities are pulled into Lead Gen & CRM. Once connected, Salesforce becomes the expected system for accounts, opportunities, pipelines, and sales reporting. The integration has edition and API-access requirements, so it should not be treated as a universally included connector.
The product’s advantage is a broad marketing-and-sales toolset in one application, with explicit support for agency operating models. The rebrand notice also removes uncertainty about product continuity: Constant Contact says development continues and that the name change does not remove current functionality.
The disadvantages are pricing opacity and brand complexity. Buyers will encounter both names in current documentation and technical surfaces. Usage-linked tiers can also make cost less predictable than a fixed-seat CRM. Most importantly for this site, Lead Gen & CRM is not a substitute for field operations software. A contractor still needs dispatch, service history, mobile work orders, estimates or invoicing tied to jobs, and technician workflows elsewhere.
Pick Lead Gen & CRM when a service business or its agency runs a genuine inbound-marketing operation that needs behavioral automation, scoring, nurture campaigns, pipeline visibility, and attribution. Define the handoff between marketing and the FSM before purchase: which system owns the customer, when a lead becomes a booked job, and how revenue returns for campaign reporting.
Do not pick it as the operational system for a field workforce. If the requirement starts with dispatch, asset history, technician location, service agreements, or work orders, choose an FSM first. Add Lead Gen & CRM only when the marketing and sales automation gap is material enough to justify a second platform and integration.
